This weekend, supporters from Stop HS2 and Extinction Rebellion joined forces at the Harvill Road Protection Camp and as a result, HS2 Ltd decided not to even try cutting down the roadside trees there. Thank you to everyone who came.
Here are our photos from the weekend. The action has now passed, but the camp remains and some of the people who were there are visiting Steeple Claydon today. There’s also more information and videos on the Colne Valley Facebook page.
In case you were wondering, it is possible to sleep up a tree! #HS2 #StopHS2 pic.twitter.com/eaMW3BEqv8

The police came earlier, but it turns out the road isn’t covered by the injunction and there is no law against climbing trees. So they went away again. #HS2 #ExtinctionRebellion #StopHS2 pic.twitter.com/RvhH9FupGE

There are currently 11 people up trees on Harvil Road. The quick version of how today has gone is #HS2 were going to close the road and cut down the trees that line it. Because there are people in the trees, they haven’t done either of those things. #ExtinctionRebellion #StopHS2

And remember, #HS2 had permission to shut Harvil Road for two days to cut down trees. They may have turned tail and ran today, but that doesn’t mean they will tomorrow. Join us at UB9 6JW on Sunday and see what it’s all about! #StopHS2 #ExtinctionRebellion pic.twitter.com/svL3nr0LAT

Shift changeover at Colne Valley! #HS2 security vehicle was noticeably putting in extra patrols for a while, probably doing a headcount, but they seem to have retired to discus tactics- i.e. whether to bother even trying! #StopHS2 #ExtinctionRebellion pic.twitter.com/2MQsX2VAPo

The occupation of trees threatened by #HS2 continues at Harvil Road. We’ll be here all day at UB9 6JW. #StopHS2 #ExtinctionRebellion pic.twitter.com/ifguxB4st4

And here we have one of the ground level versions of climbing a tree to protect it. Just sit on the floor, and if #HS2 come to get you, simply superglue your hands together! #ExtinctionRebellion #StopHS2 pic.twitter.com/Vjb8AELCg7

Police turned up again. #HS2 tried to claim protestors in trees are breaking the site injunction. Police read injunction. Police left. Ten minutes later a stack of HS2 oompa-loompas left. Thinking tgey may have given up. #ExtinctionRebellion #StopHS2 pic.twitter.com/pPRT6cRAtU

Things are winding down at Harvil Road, so we’ve decided to clean it. This isn’t our rubbish, it’s months – if not years – of what has been chucked out of passing car windows. Who should we send the bill for clean-up to at @Hillingdon Council? #ExtinctionRebellion #StopHS2 #HS2 pic.twitter.com/eNb0YnNyhh

It’s now past six o’clock and the permission #HS2 had to close Harvil Road and cut down the trees that line it has run out. And all those trees are still standing! Thank you to everyone who helped. Hopefully this is the first victory of many as we #StopHS2. #ExtinctionRebellion pic.twitter.com/pb8OzMv3GR

One last tweet. Colne Valley protestors will be in court on 17th July after stopping drilling which could have polluted the water supply – #HS2 still refuse to publish legally required risk assessments. Please help if you can #StopHS2 #ExtinctionRebellion https://t.co/ajbPeT6e9A
