You know, that £56bn belongs to the taxpayer, it doesn’t have to be taxed and spent. Maybe people could be allowed to keep their own money and spend it as they see fit?
Well actually that £56bn is probably borrowing, so it belongs to future taxpayers. I’m sure they’ll love the idea that if we’re not spending their £56bn on one thing we should spend it on something else.
Hammond just said on today programme that hs2 would cost 32bn!
Maybe he misread £320bn. for £32bn. after all, it’s only taxpayers’ money.
