What Could the £56bn for HS2 Buy Instead?

The Stop HS2 Bramley Group has done the maths on what the money set to be blown on HS2 could buy instead.

  1. You know, that £56bn belongs to the taxpayer, it doesn’t have to be taxed and spent. Maybe people could be allowed to keep their own money and spend it as they see fit?

    Well actually that £56bn is probably borrowing, so it belongs to future taxpayers. I’m sure they’ll love the idea that if we’re not spending their £56bn on one thing we should spend it on something else.
