Chilterns Conservation Board Response to HS2 Consultation

Various different groups opposed to HS2 are starting to put their response to the HS2 consultation on line. You can download the response of the Chilterns Conservation Board from the Chilterns AONB website. They’ve also got a statement on the Environmental Impact on the AONB.

The Board is a legal body with legal duties to protecting the AONB. One of their concerns is that if a project as damaging to the local environment as HS2 will be, is that other AONB’s in other parts of the country will no longer be as protected against planning projects as they are now.

The submission is detailed, especially about the effects on the Chilterns.

  1. A shame really as what could have been a good response is slightly spoiled by some has some clear errors and presumptions. Let’s hope that some of the more accurate aspects of their response will be taken on board by HS2.
