Our standard approach is to issue our GIS data in ESRI ArcGIS shapefiles format and you will therefore need to have the appropriate software to view this data.

It’s actually one of the better moves releasing proper GIS data, although there should also be sources for other interested parties who are not familiar with GIS software.
