New HS2 Chair to appear in front of Transport Select Committee

The new chair of HS2 Ltd, Allan Cook, will be in front of the Transport Select Committee on Wednesday morning at 9.45am for an oral evidence session.

The Parliament website says the committee will ask Allan Cook about his role and “his views on some of the key strategic challenges facing the high-speed rail project such as management capability, delays, costs and scope”

At the session in January when former HS2 chair, Terry Morgan, was in the witness spot he said ‘nobody knows’ what HS2 will cost, and it is highly likely that the committee will follow up on this and some of the other things he said.

As always, we’ll be live-tweeting, as @Penny_Gaines and @JoeRukin during this session, and possibly also during the Chancellor’s Spring Statement in the afternoon.

PS Some of the highlights from Terry Morgan’s session can be seen on our Youtube channel here.
