“Parliament was misled”, as Lord claims £86bn HS2 cost has been known since 2016

House of Lords, 24th July 2019. Tony Berkeley claims that parliament has been misled for at least three years and that the £86bn cost estimate for HS2 has been known for at least three years. Baroness Vere seems to claim that gagging former employees is standard practice at HS2 Ltd.

One comment to ““Parliament was misled”, as Lord claims £86bn HS2 cost has been known since 2016”
  1. The reply from Transport Minister Baroness Vere “Govt. will publish an updated business case by end of 2019….” is all weasel words, and absolutely meaningless, and completely ignores reality. The idea that HS2 can just be continued regardless, presumably until the end of 2019 is patently absurd and symptomatic of everything that’s wrong with HS2. Maybe, however, Baroness Vere will be replaced shortly, like the late lamented Chris Grayling.
