According to Building.co.uk, the row between Mace and HS2 Ltd over the appointment of a Phase 2 development partner, is continuing, with Mace having hired a QC.
The article says that the meeting between Mace and HS2 Ltd that was supposed to have happened last week is now to be held “at the end of this [week]”. Depending on the outcome of the meeting, Building.co.uk says Mace will decide whether to go to court.
The issue is over the appointment of CH2M Hill as HS2 Ltd’s Phase 2 development partner, which happened at the same time as HS2 Ltd’s temporary CEO was seconded from CH2M Hill and the new HS2 Ltd CEO was appointed – from CH2M Hill.
Building says:
To underline how seriously the firm is taking the possibility of legal action, Buildingunderstands that Mace has brought in a QC as it mulls whether to go to court.
Mace is believed to be particularly concerned that its bid was compromised because of the recent decision by HS2 Ltd, which is responsible for building the network, to appoint CH2M European managing director Mark Thurston as its new chief executive.
As they point out, the contract is still not formally awarded, nearly three weeks on.
