The West Country and HS2

Rail lines to and from the West Country are currently closed, completely cutting off the area from the rest of the country, with no real idea of when they will be open again.

People in the area were already concerned that HS2 would make them more isolated than previously and that they would lose out economically from HS2.

  1. More work needed to make current daily rail travel less prone to land slips and trees falling. Engage HS2 people with and back to Network Rail and get realistic about the vulnerabilities of what exists today.
