Camden People’s Theatre – The HS2 Project

Exhibition, until Sat 15th December; Performance Sun 16th only

The HS2 Project presented by CPT and Gameshow

Embrace the pace? Or restrain the train?

CPT and Gameshow are collaborating on a unique new community project, addressing the government’s controversial plans for a new High Speed rail link from Euston to the Midlands.

Opponents of HS2, who include 19 local authorities along the proposed route, argue that there is no economic benefit, and that HS2 is environmentally destructive. Supporters of HS2 say the rail link will give the UK a railway fit for the 21st-century. In Camden, HS2 threatens the demolition of much of Drummond Street, and the Regents Park estate, and the forcible re-housing of its residents.

Gameshow director Matthew Evans will be talking to local people to canvas their opinions about HS2, and their feelings about the West Euston neighbourhood more generally. These interviews will feed into the creation of a week-long exhibition (Dec 10 – 16); and a one-off theatre performance on Sun 16 Dec.
