Two news items which seem appropriate for Good Friday:
Camden New Journal: Historic graves to be ripped up if HS2 high-speed rail link goes ahead
Picked up by the Telegraph: HS2: 50,000 bodies ‘to be exhumed’ for high speed rail link
These two items follow on from news about Kensal Green Cemetery, where Isambard Kingdom Brunel is buried.
West End Extra 23rd March: ‘Just where is this HS2 project going to take us?’, say Westminster residents
and the Evenng Standard 10 Jan 2011: Kensal Green graves ‘may be disturbed by high speed rail line’
I doubt Isambard Kingdom Brunel would have had any concerns about being dug up to make way for a railway; I rather think he would have approved.
