Last Chance to See HS2 Impacted Ancient Woodlands – 15th March.

In April  HS2 Ltd plan to fell 3 areas of precious local Ancient Woodland: Broadwells and Birches Wood and part of Crackley Woods in Kenilworth. Join us to walk amongst our Ancient Trees for maybe the last time and show the Government how strongly you feel about this terrible assault on our ecological heritage.

From 12.30 We will gather at Abbey Fields Park in Bridge St, Kenilworth, CV8 1BN (recommended parking at Square West, CV8 1EP and Abbey End CV8 1QJ) with speeches at 1pm. Shortly after we will walk up the road to Crackley Woods, along the Greenway to Broadwells Wood then to Crackley Woods Camp. All of which are threatened by HS2. If you do the whole walk you will finish by 5pm approx. Click here for the Facebook event page.

We will have guest speakers including Gail Bradbrook (Extinction Rebellion), Megan McCubbin (Wildlife Rebellion), Luci Ryan (Woodland Trust) and Tony Whitehead (RSPB) and local Stop HS2 campaigners Joe Rukin and Matt Bishop. The walk will take about 3 to 4 hours. If you want a shorter walk park at or near Crackley Woods (if there is space!) and join the rally there.

Please be aware the tracks and fields can be muddy and uneven.

Public toilet facilities are available in Kenilworth town and abbey fields, there will be a temporary toilets in place near Broadwells wood and there is a composting loo at Crackley camp. Camping available before and after event at Crackley and Cubbington. Crowdfunder here https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/stophs2

  1. Hi I’m a machine driver and do not agree with hs2 due to devistation it will cause and have refused work on it the best way I feel it should be constructed is to tunnel it like channel tunnel to save houses and businesses and wild life and half the cost

  2. We have now a protection camp in an ancient woodland in Wendover, Bucks, once frequented by Roald Dahl and where he was inspired to write some of his wonderful stories. HS2 wants to tear it down with NO REGARD for our heritage or it’s contribution to averting climate breakdown. We will walk with you on 15th March 2020 and we will save all our ancient woodland from Boris and his Governments HS2 Ltd and vested interests. Britain deserves better than Boris.
