Four thousand seats ‘gone missing’

Beleben has been studying the HS2 documents and has spotted something strange between the different cases: there are a whole bunch fewer seats expected on HS2 now then there used to be.

Four thousand fewer seats leaving Euston in the peak hour of 5pm – 6pm in the July 2017 case compared to the October 2013 case. Or as Beleben points out “one-fifth of HS2’s entire capacity” has gone missing.

For the graphs see Beleben’s post here.

  1. Only 4,000 seats ‘gone missing’? Couldn’t they manage to ‘mislay’ the rest of HS2?
