This week HS2 Ltd announced proposals, which have not yet been confirmed by the DfT, to reroute a large chunk of HS2 to the East through South Yorkshire. Whilst there are several communities now dragged into the HS2 mess, the one which so far has grabbed the headlines is the Shimmer Estate in Mexborough. Still under construction, HS2 would go right through the middle of it on a high viaduct if the new plans are adopted.
