First Lords Hybrid Bill oral evidence session today

The first oral evidence session of the House of Lords HS2 Hybrid Bill Select Committee will be today, with the meeting starting at 9.50am.

Appearing in front of the committee are some familiar HS2 faces, Mr Timothy Mould QC, (Lead Counsel Department for Transport), Mr James Strachan QC and Andrew McNaughton, (Technical Director, High Speed Two (HS2) Limited).

We’ll be watching and be tweeting – @stophs2 and @Penny_Gaines – about the meeting. The meeting is being broadcast from 10am here.

Meanwhile, in the House of Commons, they will be debating transport issues from the Queen’s Speech. The speech itself made no mention of HS2, but the background notes include the Phase 1 bill as continuing from the previous session. Of more interest is that while the Queen mentioned the Northern Powerhouse, there is no mention of Phase 2 of HS2 (or Phase 2a to Crewe).
