House of Lords Select Committee announces intitial steps

From the Select Committee website:

The Select Committee on the High Speed Rail (London – West Midlands) Bill (Lords) will first meet in public on Thursday 19 May at 10.00am. The Chairman will open the proceedings and the Committee will then hear the promoter’s opening statement and route presentation. This, and all hearings, will take place in Committee Room 4 on the Committee corridor in the House of Lords.

Locus Standi hearings are expected to start on Tuesday 7 June and petitioners will be contacted shortly to arrange hearing dates.

This will be followed by hearing petitions so far as possible geographically from north to south as in the House of Commons, though petitions from Euston will not be taken last. Generally, at least 3 to 4 weeks’ notice will be given.

Sitting times for the Committee hearings will be as follows:
Mondays 2–5.30pm, Tuesdays 10–1pm and 2–5.30pm, Wednesdays 10–1pm and 2–5.30pm, and Thursdays 10–1pm.

The Committee has confirmed Mr David Walker’s appointment as programme manager for the Select Committee and he will be making arrangements for fixing dates for petitioners to appear.
